Several weeks ago, I had to check into an emergency room with a blocked intestine. Within 30 hours I had my stomach pumped and cleared up, and I was fully recovered....but I was not 100% recovered. I had experienced a rebound. I was back to normal - almost. We should never confuse a rebound with a recovery. A Recovery is a moment that takes you almost exactly back to where you were before. If the DOW was trading at 29,000 and dropped to 18,500, a jump up to 26,000 is outstanding and exciting......but it is a rebound, not a full recovery. Recovery would be 29,000.
In some parts of the country, real estate markets will experience a recovery, and others will experience a rebound. Some are even experiencing a boom. It is important to note the difference. There is a difference. Rebounds feel good and are optimistic and encouraging. But they are not a full recovery. Recoveries often take more time and effort.
